Rachel,
I remember you as a child during a visit to

Stumbled upon your site during a search. Nice site,
especially the Camp. It brings back fond memories of annual vacations there when
I was a child. I just wish you hadn't referred to my Grandfather as 'Art'.

Comment: Hi there Rachel / Roger!
I'm a 60 year old, recently
retired chartered accountant living in new Zealand. Over the years, my wife and
I have traveled extensively overseas. In recent years, my health patterns (I have
a chronic fatigue condition) has precluded me accompanying my wife on her annual
sorties to far flung locations. So I nowadays, I use the Internet to 'virtually
accompany her' on her travels.
This year, having spent a week on Easter Island
and 3 weeks in Cuba, my wife Norma has been traveling in Spain + Portugal for
(so far) 8 weeks. A mobile phone text message very recently to hand said she has
just arrived in Merida for 2 days, en route to Lisbon (which is her on/off base
for her spell on the Iberian peninsula. Naturally, much as I have been doing
all along, when I get text messages telling me where she is (or about to be) and
what she is up to, I hurry to my PC to check out web pages addressing that location.
These past few days, scouring the Internet, I'd been battling to find worthwhile
images of Merida on the Internet: for the most part, those I found using the Google
search engine (first 3 or 4 pages of search results) and Copernicus multi-engine
search software, were either tiny, blurry, unsuitable, or all three! So it was
with great delight that I came across your web site pages ... via a specific search
for Puente Romana (there had to be an image somewhere depicting a panorama view
of substantially the entire bridge!). Of course, that led me to all the other
splendid images you have of scenes in and about Merida ... and then (looking back
at what images you had of places Norma already had visited) images of Avila (I
really did appreciate seeing your top rate images of the city walls: I had been
longing to get a better feel for how huge, extensive and magnificent the walls
really are) and so on. I only wished your overall photographic coverage of Spain
had extended to Galicia, Asturias and Cantabria too!
I certainly will be checking
out non-Spain images on your web site when town allows. The quality of the images
you provide make it so worthwhile.
While I appreciate that the display you
provide is aimed primarily at your relatives, friends and work colleagues, I do
appreciate that you have taken the trouble to share the images with a 'wider public'.
Thank you very much for your contribution to my visual enjoyment and education!
Hooray! [That's the Kiwi equivalent of Adios!] - - - J
